Antarctica 2006

Not many people have been to the frozen continent at the bottom of the world but I'm proud to say I'm now one of them. I took a ship from Argentina through the Drake Passage, a voyage of approximately two days, and proceeded to spend seven days around the coastal land and islands of the Antarctic peninsula. This is where the bulk to the wildlife is to be found and below you will find pictures of the various types of penguins, seals, whales, birds and other creatures I encountered (as well as some amazing landscapes). It was a great trip and wasn't nearly as cold as I had thought it might be (since it was summer down there at the time, the temperatures were about on par with Michigan's winter temperatures).
